How to choose one
Label size
Match the printer's maximum label width and the roll or sheet sizes it takes to the labels the shop actually uses, such as a small shelf tag or a larger carton label.
Print method
Direct thermal needs no ribbon but fades over time and heat; thermal transfer uses a ribbon and lasts longer, which matters for labels that stay on a shelf or a long-life product.
Printer language
Most label printers speak a raw printer language such as TSPL or ZPL; the label design has to be built for the language the printer understands.
Connection
USB suits one back-office PC; a network connection lets several tills or a goods-received desk share one label printer.
Print speed and resolution
A higher resolution (dots per inch) suits small text and dense barcodes; print speed matters most when relabelling a whole shelf after a price change.

Can it print my own in-store barcodes?
Yes: an in-store code can be generated from a per-company sequence and printed as a normal EAN-13 barcode any scanner reads.
Does it print price tags or just barcodes?
The planned label module covers price tags, shelf-edge labels and product stickers, with a template per label type.
What label sizes does it take?
That depends on the printer and the roll or sheet stock loaded; check the maker's own label width and roll diameter for the model.
Is a label printer the same as a receipt printer?
No: a label printer runs its own roll of blank labels and a different raw printer language, separate from the receipt printer.
