The computer the till software runs on
A POS terminal is the computer at the counter: an all-in-one touch screen and PC in one unit, a compact box PC, or a handheld Android terminal. Any counter running the till needs one, whether a full-size till or a small mobile terminal. Start by checking the screen size against the till layout, then whether it's a fixed all-in-one or a portable handheld.

How to choose one
Screen size
A 15-inch screen is the common all-in-one size for a full till layout; a smaller handheld screen suits mobile order-taking rather than the main counter.
All-in-one or separate parts
An all-in-one terminal has the screen, PC and stand in one unit; a separate PC and touch monitor cost more to cable but are easier to replace piece by piece.
Operating system
Windows runs the widest range of till software and printer drivers; an Android terminal suits a simpler, mobile or kiosk-style till.
Processor and memory
A till mostly needs enough memory and a modern processor to keep a browser responsive all day, not a high-end gaming spec.
Ports
Check it has enough USB, serial and network ports for the scanner, printer, drawer and network the counter actually uses.
With the software
Does it work with BixiCash?
Our browser till runs on any Windows PC or all-in-one terminal with a modern browser today; a dedicated Windows till app for direct printer, drawer and scale control is still planned.

Straight answers
About pos terminals
Does the till need a special terminal?
No: the web till runs in a modern browser on ordinary PC or all-in-one hardware; no special terminal is required.
Can I use a handheld Android terminal?
A handheld can load the same browser till screens; direct hardware control from a dedicated Android app is not part of the product today.
Does the terminal need to be online all the time?
A planned LAN hub and Windows till are being built to keep a counter selling through a short internet outage; today the web till needs a connection.
Will you badge specific terminal models as tested?
We only badge a device 'Tested with BixiCash' once we've actually tried it, and that tested list is still being built.
