Logs staff in and out by fingerprint or face
A biometric attendance machine checks a fingerprint or a face and logs the time a staff member clocked in or out, instead of a signed paper register. Any business tracking staff attendance across more than a couple of people benefits from one, from a school gate to a factory floor. Start by checking which check method it uses and how many staff records it can hold.

How to choose one
Verification method
Fingerprint is the most common and cheapest; a face-recognition unit avoids a shared touch surface but usually costs more.
Staff capacity
Check the machine's maximum number of enrolled staff and stored logs against the size of the school, shop or site.
Connection
Most units store logs locally and export them, or connect over the network for a central system to pull from.
Placement
A gate or entrance unit needs to withstand weather and knocks; an indoor office unit doesn't.
Log export format
Check what format the machine exports logs in, since that decides how easily attendance data reaches payroll or a spreadsheet.
With the software
Does it work with BixiCash?
Planned: pulling attendance from a biometric machine, plus a spreadsheet import, once the attendance module ships; we already sell the machines as hardware today.

About biometric attendance
Can the machine's logs go straight into the software today?
Not yet: that pull-in is planned; today the machine's own export or a spreadsheet import is the route in.
Does the machine need a network connection?
Many units work and store logs offline, then export a file; some also offer a network connection for central pulling.
Fingerprint or face, which is better for a school gate?
Both work; fingerprint is the cheaper, more common choice, while a face unit avoids many people touching the same surface.
Can it replace a paper attendance register?
Yes for logging the clock-in time itself; matching that against a class or shift register is a software step, not the machine's job.
