Hand-prints and sticks a price tag
A price tag gun is a mechanical, hand-squeezed labeller that prints a small tag from an ink ribbon and sticks it straight onto the item. Any shop that hand-tags loose or shelf goods, rather than printing a full label sheet, uses one. Start by checking the label size and how many characters or lines the gun can print.

Before you buy
How to choose one
Label size and lines
A basic gun prints one or two short lines, such as a price and a code; check the label size fits the item being tagged.
Number of digit wheels
More digit wheels let it print a longer number, such as a price with cents or a longer code, in one squeeze.
Ink roller
The gun needs its own ink roller, which wears out and needs replacing; check how easily one is found locally.
Label refills
Refill rolls are gun-specific, so check the size and shape of label roll a given gun actually takes.
Grip and build
A gun used all day on a shop floor benefits from a comfortable grip and a housing that can take repeated squeezing.
With the software
Does it work with BixiCash?
A price tag gun works entirely on its own, hand-printing from a loaded ribbon and roll; it has no link to the till software at all.

About price tag guns
Does the price tag gun need the till software?
No: it's a standalone mechanical tool, unrelated to the till or any software.
Can it print a barcode, not just a price?
Basic guns print digits and simple codes only; a real scannable barcode needs a label printer instead.
How long does one ink roller last?
That depends on the model and how many labels are printed; it's a wearing part that eventually needs replacing.
Is this the same as a label printer?
No: a label printer is powered and prints from a design file; a price tag gun is a hand-squeezed mechanical tool.
