Does the cash counter connect to the till?

No: it works on its own, and the counted total is checked against the till separately.

Can it tell me if a note is fake?

Some models flag a likely counterfeit using UV, magnetic or infrared checks; this varies by model.

A small shop with a modest daily cash volume can usually count by hand; a cash counter pays off once volume or shift-close counting gets slow.

Only if it's a coin counter or a combined model; many machines handle only notes.
